Sometimes, machines can be used that help to examine the back of your eye. Children may need their pupils dilated. This can cause a headache and makes light painful to bear. Wearing sunglasses may make the experience much more comfortable.
The eye drops used to dilate the pupils may trigger a migraine. If you are prone to migraines, or already know that the drops will give you a migraine, arrange to have someone else drive you, or take a taxi.
