Many people as our optometrist about dilated eye exams, what they entail, and how they help keep your eyes healthy. Below is everything you need to know about this type of eye exam.
A dilated eye exam is an eye test done by our optometrist to take a close look at the inside of your eyes to check for any signs of trouble. The optometrist will use special drops to enlarge your pupils, so the inside can be viewed. This allows an optometrist to assess the health of the back of your eyes and detect any signs of developing eye diseases, such as glaucoma or cataracts.
Dilated eye exams can provide valuable information about your overall eye health. By getting a closer look inside your eyes, our optometrist can check for serious issues that may not be visible during a regular eye exam. These exams can detect signs of eye diseases and other conditions, such as retinal tears or detachments. In order to ensure your vision is clear and healthy, it’s important to have routine dilated eye exams performed.
When you come in for a dilated eye exam at SoCal Optometry, we will start by having you look through a series of lenses and answer questions about your vision. We will then use special eye drops to dilate your pupils. Once your pupils are enlarged, our optometrist will then take pictures of the back of your eyes to check for any signs of eye diseases or conditions. After the exam, you may experience a temporary blurring of your vision and sensitivity to light, which should resolve in a few hours.
A dilated eye exam is an important part of maintaining your vision and overall health. If you have any questions about our services at SoCal Optometry, don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to helping you achieve the best vision possible!
